Carved out beneath the Story Bridge at Brisbane's new Howard Smith Wharves precinct, The Fantauzzo presents a design-savvy stay.

Amid a throng of enticing new restaurants and bars lining the river at Brisbane’s shiny new Howard Smith Wharves precinct – including Arc Dining, Mr Percival’s, Felon’s Brewing Co. and Stanley – an all-new Art Series Hotel is injecting new life into a once-neglected site beneath the Story Bridge. And, images of its carefully curated interiors have now been released.

Opening Tuesday March 26, The Fantauzzo is a 100-million-dollar hotel that boasts all the mod-cons you’d expect of a luxury hotel. Its name honours Australian artist Vincent Fantauzzo, whose distinctive works adorn the space – featuring some familiar homegrown faces.

Beyond the decor, guests at Fantauzzo can expect royal treatment thanks to newly appointed general manager Shaun Fields who’s bringing his varied experience to Queensland’s capital. Fields’ career in the hotel business has seen him tend to the likes of Oprah Winfrey, Lady Gaga and Queen Elizabeth II.

“I had the pleasure of being her [the Queen’s] personal escort,” Fields said. “It ended with a dinner for all the Commonwealth heads of government and I received a personal gift from the Queen at the end of it which I still wear to this day – a pair of cufflinks.”

And, he insists, there’s more to the newly revealed rooms than their sophisticated design and featured artworks.

“We will be at the cutting edge of what is happening in the industry right now when it comes to in-room technology, but we need to keep the core values of what makes a good hotel experience at the forefront,” he added.
