Sip, soak and dine in your own private igloo-style shelter on this waterfront site.
Thought Sydney was all about the year-round sunshine? This pop-up designed to celebrate the cooler months might shift your perspective. Until 31 August 2019, ‘Igloos on the Pier’ are taking over the waterfront alongside Pier One Sydney Harbour.
For the chillier season, this boutique hotel will play host to three unique, igloo-inspired structures. There’ll be the ‘Dreams Igloo,’ where guests booking to stay in Harbour View Balcony Suite 216 can get cosy in their own private igloo furnished with blankets, cushions and a canopy of lanterns. And, there’ll be a cheese and charcuterie board and a bottle of Champagne awaiting.

Next up is the Snow Glob Igloo, an all-white igloo perched atop a private pontoon. Guests here will feel they’re on a cruise, as they enjoy sipping cocktails and Champagne while the tide ebbs and flows below. This experience is suited to up to 12 people, and lasts three hours. Do we hear birthday party ideas coming together? This igloo, it should be added, is suitable for adults only.
Then, there’s the Gantry Dining Igloo, which forms a private dining experience with Australian-centred dishes served up by Head Chef Thom Gorringe. There’ll be vegan and vegetarian menus available too, alongside an extensive wine list. This igloo is available for 2.5 hours for six people at one time.
Making a return to the pier this year is the ‘Hot Tub Igloo’, where guests can sip beverages while soaking their cares away in this tub with a view. Fluffy robes and slippers are part of the package. You can five friends can enjoy the tub for 2.5 hours.
Lastly, three Luxe Winter Igloos, of varying sizes will be available for hire (for three hours a session).
