Get your virtual flower crowns ready.
The coronavirus pandemic (and subsequent lockdown) has brought us a host of iso-tainment including the virtual safari, a livestream of the Northern Lights and indoor surfing. But all that pales in comparison to what this weekend has to offer: a virtual festival.
The NSW South Coast town of Kiama is well-known for it’s stunning coastline and foodie culture, but it’s also home to the Kiama International Seaside Arts Festival, otherwise known as KISS, which, this year (thank to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic) is going virtual.
That’s right, your sofa cushions won’t know what hit them when you start livestreaming this collection of wildly entertaining, mostly family-friendly acts, including a one-show only performance by the Pitts Family Circus, an adults-only KISS Kaberet, kids stand up comedy, a lantern parade, and closing with a game show based on their sell-out pub quizzes.
Festival organisers Evans and Campbell are thrilled to be able to offer a ‘good news story’ for this weekend, especially for the bushfire-ravaged South Coast. “Our mission is actually the same as any other year – to heighten spirits with helpings of laughter, joy and connection. KISS has always been about bringing people young and old together in hilarious and thought-provoking ways to be part of something bigger.”
The adults-only kaberet is the only priced event, but you need to “book a seat” in order to receive your zoom code.
