Is your kid going OS these holidays?

Air NZ has a clever idea

Any parent who has ever sent their child on a solo flight knows the fear that accompanies this. The idea of your kid, all alone up there, at the mercy of the elements (not to mention bottomless screen time and dodgy plane food)? It’s terrifying.

So Air New Zealand has come up with a nifty device to help parents feel calmer about sending their kids into the great unknown. The Airband will be given, at no cost, to every child flying unaccompanied until February (after that, it’ll cost $15). A chip in the band is scanned at key stages during every flight, triggering text messages to up to five pre-nominated contacts, letting them know their most precious cargo is safe.
