Hello, luxury!
Sydney is fast becoming the luxury hotel capital of Australia. This year the harbour city welcomed Eve Hotel and 25 Hours open in Paddington. Now, it’s been announced that in 2026, Capella Hotel Group – the team behind one of Sydney’s most celebrated luxury stays, Capella Sydney – will start to unveil a bold new venture from February next year: The Lands by Capella, a glamorous precinct set to reinvigorate the heart of the CBD.

Just steps from Capella Sydney, The Lands by Capella will be located in the former Department of Lands building, which occupies an entire city block and conveniently stands at the cross-sections of Circular Quay, Macquarie and George Streets. The building is a gargantuan sandstone heritage building that perfectly represents Sydney’s cultural heritage. It is one of two majestic properties known as The Sandstone Precinct, the second being where Capella Sydney currently resides.
While details are still under wraps, here’s what we do know about The Lands by Capella.
The Lands by Capella will offer 10,000 square metres of luxury retail and food and beverage concepts, with rooftop dining and large-scale event spaces. It’ll also be home to Florence Guild’s newest venture, The Sandstones Club by Florence Guild. For those who don’t know Florence Guild, the company curates spaces like acclaimed restaurant Freyja in Melbourne. It also designs Work Clubs that feature restaurants, bars, events, boutiques, that bring the people together.

“The Lands by Capella presents an opportunity to extend our World’s Best Brand award-winning bespoke luxury hospitality to the wider community. Luxury is not just where you stay, but how you live. By curating extraordinary experiences across hospitality and retail, we bring the art of refined living and personalised service into every touchpoint,” said Marc von Arnim, General Manager of Capella Sydney.
The Lands by Capella is scheduled to open in Q1 in 2026. We’ll keep you updated as details come in.
