One of the reasons we love watching Succession so much is that it feels like we’re getting a glimpse into the lives of the mega rich. While, yes, it’s not quite reality TV, but it does give us a sneak peek of some pretty incredible filming locations.
We’re talking about those sky-high New York City apartments with floor-to-ceiling windows and sweeping views of the Big Apple, which would cost tens of millions of dollars to buy and not open to the public. Alas, while there’s no checking in to Shiv’s apartment there is one location that was recently featured in the most recent episode (episode 5, Kill List) that does welcome guests, Lukas Matsson’s (played by Alexander Skarsgård’s) company retreat.
In the episode the Roy siblings head to Norway to discuss the Waystar Royco and GoJo deal with Swedish tycoon, Matsson, while he and his employees are on a company retreat located in a birch forest in the wilds. The company retreat taking place in the show was actually filmed at a real life hotel called Juvet Landscape Hotel.

If you fancy getting lost in nature while staying at an architecturally stunning hotel, then this one’s for you. There are three types of rooms available, all of which blend seamlessly with the surrounding pristine nature while taking full advantage of it at the same time, through lots of glass walls and windows.
The piece de resistance, a place fit for Logan Roy, is the Writer’s Lodge. Within the private chalet there are two bedrooms, a living room, kitchen and large patio facing the forest so you can take in Norway’s nature with a cuppa in hand.
In true Scandinavian style there’s also a bathhouse on site that includes a hot tub, steam sauna and silent room for meditation.

If you’re keen to retreat into nature, Matsson-style, prices per night start from approximately $660, which may be a drop in the ocean for the Roys, but one to add to the bucket list for the common man.
Convinced this is your next holiday destination? You’re not alone. Thanks to the rise of streaming services there’s a growing demand for destinations featured on screen. You can read all about ‘set jet’ here and how it’s changing how we travel.
