Stay-at-home orders will remain in effect until Friday July 16.
27 cases of community transmission have been detected in NSW Sydney overnight in the 24 hours to 8pm Tuesday July 6th, and Premier Gladys Berejiklian has just announced lockdown orders will remain in effect for another week, until Friday July 16th.
Current stay-at-home orders will remain in place for an additional week, until midnight on Friday July 16th.
The restrictions apply to Greater Sydney, the Blue Mountains, Central Coast, Wollongong and Shellharbour.
The guidelines around mandatory face masks, which requires that masks be worn indoors at all non-residential premises have also been extended until Friday July 16th.
Remote schooling for students in greater Sydney, Central Coast, Blue Mountains, and Wollongong will also be in effect from July 13th, whereas students in regional areas will resume in-class lessons as usual.
Lockdown orders were originally announced on Thursday June 24 after NSW recorded 22 new COVID-19 cases in the 24 hours to 8pm.
Residents of Greater Sydney have been required to stay at home from 11.59pm Friday June 25 “unless absolutely necessary,” said Premier Berejiklian.
Full details on the new restrictions can be found here.
Non-essential travel restrictions apply to all of Greater Sydney (including the Blue Mountains, Central Coast, Wollongong and Shellharbour local government areas) according to the most recent update by the NSW Government.
At this stage, if you have not visited Greater Sydney or the above areas, and do not live or work in Greater Sydney (including the Blue Mountains, Central Coast, Wollongong and Shellharbour local government areas), you are free to travel throughout New South Wales, but not permitted to enter Greater Sydney, (including the Blue Mountains, Central Coast, Wollongong and Shellharbour local government areas) without a reasonable excuse.
Necessary reasons include:
- If you’re unable to work from home
- If you’re unable to be educated at home
- If exercising outside, but no groups of larger than ten are permitted
- If you need to provide care for a relative
- If you need to purchase essential goods or services
In addition, the new COVID restrictions which were put in place earlier in the week (including mandatory mask-wearing indoors at all non-residential venues, and outdoor gatherings limited to 10 people) will be extended by an additional week, until midnight on Friday July 16th.
