We’ll give you a hint: it’s on the Northern Beaches.
Tripadvisor has revealed its ‘Best of the Best Beaches of 2024’ list and, in some surprising news, only one Australian beach made the top 25. Call us biased, but we think Australia is home to more than just one of the best beaches in the world. Alas, we can’t argue with the data.
The online travel agency’s Travellers’ Choice Awards Best of the Best titles are ‘awarded to destinations and locations that receive a high volume of above-and-beyond reviews and opinions from the Tripadvisor community over 12 months’. Out of around 8 million listings, fewer than 1% achieved this milestone, so it’s an impressive feat.

So, which Australian beach has received the most positive reviews globally? That would be Sydney’s very own Manly Beach, on the Northern Beaches. The local favourite came in at 7th place and was in good company with stunning beaches in Portugal, Italy, Spain and Hawaii also included on the list.
Manly Beach is loved by families, surfers and swimmers. The 3km stretch of beach has something for everyone. From world-class surf, to Fairy Bower Rockpool for the kids, the smaller marine reserve Shelly Beach for those looking to escape the crowds and the stunning Manly to Spit Bridge Walk for nature lovers, Manly Beach does not disappoint. Out of 7,751 reviews, it has a 4.5 out of 5 rating.
