We’ll be there with bells on.
Christmas is taking over Melbourne again this year. The beloved four-week long Christmas Festival returns with a line-up of new attractions – hello roller-skating rink and pop-up playground – and crowd favourites from previous years, like the iconic 16.5 metre Christmas tree at Fed Square.
The merry festival has kicked off with the unveiling of the Myer Christmas Windows. Celebrating Disney’s 100th anniversary, this year’s windows are adorned with Mickey and Minnie soaking up the sun, sea and sand on their Hawaiian Holiday, the coronation of Elsa from Frozen, and more magical moments.
Come November 25, Flinders Street will become aglow as the sun sets, thanks to stunning light projections displayed over the facades of five buildings. There are six colourful themes the kids will love including Christmas candy, winter wonderland, native flora and more. This year, Melbourne’s Town Hall will also feature Christmas projections.
The kids will go nuts for the Christmas Pop-Up Playground, which is packed with giant swings and a light up dancefloor at Queensbridge Square, and Christmas carnival on the banks of the Yarra.
Other beloved attractions reappearing include the String Bean Alley Christmas Night Markets at the Queen Victoria Market precinct, the giant Christmas Maze in Docklands and the Christmas Carnival at Birrarung Marr.
Melbourne doesn’t do anything by halves, Christmas included.
