This beloved regional gem will return in 2026 with a completely new dining concept.
Ask anyone who has been to Mudgee, ‘where’s good to eat?’, they’re likely to respond with ‘The Zin House’. The award-winning farm-to-table fine dining restaurant has become ‘the’ restaurant to eat at in Mudgee. The Zin House has well and truly become the definition of a destination dining restaurant, always filled with long weekenders. But that’s not what owner Kim Currie initially envisioned for her restaurant and so she’s making a change.
At the end of 2025 The Zin House will officially close the doors on its current format and reopen in January 2026 as Zin – Food & Wine. So what’s changing? The next iteration will pivot from six-course, three-hour-long lunches to a more informal offering that still reflects Currie’s authenticity, generosity and seasonality.

“My approach to cooking and dining has changed since I started The Zin House. I want to make great food that is inclusive and accessible, not just for ‘special occasions’,” says Currie. “Guests can choose to be with us for a short meal or longer, more relaxed sittings. They can explore, pair, experiment and enjoy at their leisure. It’s fun, communal and non-pretentious.”
Formal dining tables will be swapped for communal tables and grazing-style dishes will be served at once alongside a trio-tasting of wines from Lowe Wines, the vineyard Zin – Food & Wine is located at. The change in menu also means new opening hours, moving away from set lunch and dinner sittings to a flexible service that runs throughout the day. The new hours will suit local and travelling diners who can’t commit to a three-hour meal, rather popping in for a quick meal that can be wrapped up in an hour.

The menu will change seasonally, but with frequent new additions depending on what the garden produces and what Kim cooks up in her regular test kitchen sessions. True to the original garden-to-table philosophy of The Zin House, Zin – Food & Wine’s menu will predominantly feature site-grown produce, and anything that can’t be sourced from the property will come from local friends and neighbours.
