Barangaroo Reserve has opened a new swim spot to the public and it’s making a splash

Just in time for some summer fun.

Already spoiled for choice, Sydneysiders have been treated to a brand new swim spot. The first of many harbour swimming spots that are planned to be opened by the NSW Government, Marrinawi Cove can be found at the north-east corner of Barangaroo Reserve. It’s the first swim spot to open west of the Sydney Harbour Bridge in more than 50 years.

While it is now an idyllic place to swim, it has only been made possible thanks to a widespread clean up of Sydney Harbour. Pollution and safety hazards have been removed from the water to transform this spot for keen swimmers. The cove has passed water safety tests and the state government has installed safety nets, a new shower and signs.

Heads up, the rocks can be slippery (not recommended for tiny tots) and it is a live pool so the floor of the shallow section is a thriving sea bed, which is great for snorkelling.

We can’t wait to dive in.
