The hottest tickets in town.
Calling all art lovers, night owls and concertgoers, the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) has just released its live music line-up for the return of NGV Friday Nights. An impressive get for NGV, three-time Grammy nominated singer-songwriter Nai Palm will be headlining opening night at the Great Hall on December 16.
The NGV has also called in some of Melbourne’s most creative musical minds spanning disco, glam rock, jazz and soul, to perform in the 18-week live music series. Electric Fields, Kee’ahn, Banoffee and Billy Davis are some of the highlight acts you’ll want to nab tickets to.
Not only will there be an array of live acts to catch, the NGV’s summer blockbuster exhibition, Alexander McQueen: Mind, Mythos, Muse, will be open to the public to access after hours. This is the first major Australian exhibition to explore the work of the avant-garde fashion designer, and will showcase 60 garments and accessories drawn from Los Angeles County Museum of Art’s holding of works by McQueen, and more than 50 of his designs.
For those coming straight from work, food and drink will be available to purchase. The Moët Champagne Terrace Bar will light up the Garden serving the iconic bubbles. Gin drinkers should head for the Four Pillars Gin Bar for a classic G&T or Four Pillars cocktail. And if you’re after a glass of wine, the Yering Station Wine Bar in the Great Hall will be pouring fine wine from the Yarra Valley, and hosting a tasting experience featuring rosé, chardonnay and pinot noir.
Honouring McQueen’s connection to London, guests can dine on classic British dishes like crispy pork belly, fish and chips and cheese selections.
Just when you thought Friday nights couldn’t get any better, they just did.
NGV Friday Nights will run from December 16 2022 – April 14 2023 at NGV International, St Kilda Rd, Melbourne. Tickets are available via the NGV website.
