See you in NZ.
If you work remotely and are looking for a change of scene, you don’t have to look too far. New Zealand has announced that it’s changing its visa conditions to entice digital nomads to come to WFH in its gorgeous country.
The new visa conditions will now allow visitors to work remotely for an overseas employer or client. According to New Zealand’s official immigration website: The change applies to applications received from 27 January 2025 for all visitors, including tourists and people visiting family, and partners and guardians on longer-term visitor visas.
These new conditions mean that tourists can stay in New Zealand as a digital nomad and keep in touch with work back home, without breaching their visa conditions. Both visitor visa recipients and people who enter with an NZeTA (New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority) will receive these conditions.

Visitor visas can be extended for up to nine months, although the ministers warned that working in New Zealand for more than 90 days could require them to declare themselves as a New Zealand tax resident.
But there are some conditions that must not be breached. Digital nomads must work for an international employer, they are not to work for a New Zealand employer. They must also not provide goods or services to people or businesses in New Zealand or do work that requires them to be physically present at a workplace in the country.
New Zealand hopes that this new visa change will attract remote workers who currently reside in the United States and Asia and will boost economic growth. So if you’ve ever dreamed of working from across the ditch and have the flexibility to do so, now is the time.
