The festival will showcase one of its installations in the Victorian capital for two nights only.

For the first time and exclusively to Melbourne, Parrtjima – A Festival of Light is leaving the Red Centre and touching down in the Victorian capital for only two nights. The immersive light installation is often on the bucket list for those travelling to the Northern Territory and something that has only ever before been experienced by those lucky travellers and locals. But, now’s your chance to see Parrtjima closer to home.

From March 10-11, the Aboriginal light festival will present its Grounded installation at Fed Square, illuminating the iconic architecture. The immersive experience transforms Indigenous artworks and stories into large-scale animated sequences that are projected onto the ground and accompanied by an atmospheric soundscape. It’s fully immersive and encourages people to interact with it, momentarily becoming a part of the work.

The activation will feature the work of 12 artists who have participated in Parrtjima, which include Sharon Alice, Marina Pumani Brown, Anne Dixon and more. This special one-of-a-kind show will bring light to what is to be experienced at the actual festival that takes place from April 7-16 in Alice Springs. Be prepared to feel illuminated.
