Your next trip just got a whole lot easier.

Travel lovers in Sydney can now fly directly to Uluru, now that Qantas has unveiled a new route between the Harbour City and the Northern Territory’s most famous destination.

The airline will operate five flights a week on the Sydney to Ayers Rock route from August 2021. Ayers Rock Airport is just a short 20-minute drive from Uluru.

Qantas is also adding seven other new domestic routes including Townsville to Sydney, Adelaide and Melbourne, Adelaide to Cairns and Adelaide to Hobart and Perth to the Gold Coast.

The new routes offer domestic travellers more direct connections, reducing the time they spend in transit.

The latest addition takes the total number of post-pandemic flight routes added by Qantas and Jetstar to 45.

Qantas has also announced that they’ll be offering more widebody aircraft — like the Airbus A330-200 and Boeing Dreamliner 787-9 — between major capital cities, in order to meet the increasing demand for domestic travel.

The Airbus A330-200, which is generally reserved for international routes into Asia, will service more flights between Sydney/Brisbane and Darwin.

Meanwhile the 236-seat Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, which had was previously only used for long haul international flights like Perth-London, will begin operating up to nine Sydney to Perth flights per week.

The new flight routes will see Qantas’ capacity exceed 100 per cent of pre-COVID levels in the coming months.
