The sky's the limit for Singapore Airlines.
Singapore Airlines will be on cloud nine today after it was revealed that it has been named the World’s Best Airline by Skytrax for the fifth time in the 23 year history of the Airline of the Year title.
Seven-time winner of the award, Qatar Airways was ranked number two in the world for 2023 with ANA All Nippon Airways in third place, Emirates in fourth and Japan Airlines rounding out the top five.
Qantas was notably missing from the top ten. In 2021, Australia’s national carrier was ranked eight, and jumped three positions up the ladder to come in as the fifth best airline in 2022. Plummeting 12 positions is a significant blow for the airline, which is not only considered a leading airline in Australia, but globally.

Singapore Airlines are leaders in the First Class category, winning the awards for the World’s Best First Class, the World’s Best First Class Seat, the World’s Best First Class Comfort Amenities and took top position as the Best Airline in Asia.

For budget travellers, AirAsia was the repeat winner of the World’s Best Low-Cost Airline award, a title it has won each year since 2010. Scoot won the award as the World’s Best Long Haul Low-Cost Airline. Volotea was named the Best Low-Cost Airline in Europe, this being one of the most competitive low-cost airline markets in the world.
The Skytrax World Airline awards are wholly independent from the airlines and are decided by the results of a free online customer survey satisfaction that sees more than 100 nationalities enter their results. The survey is the largest of its kind and was operated from September 2022 through to May 2023 to decide the results.
