This Vaucluse harbourside cottage has reopened with a brand new look

Steele Point

And it’s taking bookings now.

Uninterrupted views of Sydney Harbour are hard to come by, but Steele Point Cottage (which sits on prime real-estate) is your chance to experience the magic for yourself. Managed by NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service, the historic cottage lives in Nielsen Park, just a stone’s throw from the secluded Milk and Shark Beaches.

The cottage was originally built in the 1880s as a gunners’ barracks – now, after a five-year hiatus, the revamped property has reopened as a short-stay accommodation.

Ticking boxes for water lovers and nature enthusiasts alike, the cottage boasts sweeping harbour views and a rugged Australian bushland backdrop. Enjoy your morning coffee in the private sunroom before heading down to Shark Beach for a dip at first light.

Despite the renovations, the cottage has retained it’s rustic authenticity, keeping its original ceilings and timber floors. The luxurious new offerings include a fully equipped kitchen, private outdoor patio and curved bath with prime views.

Sleeping just two people, it’s the perfect excuse for a romantic getaway.
Prices start at $380 per night.
