Cosy up in this quarry-based hotel
A five-star hotel reportedly 12 years in the making, offering bungee jumping as recreation and rooms for as much as $14,000 a night has opened inside an 88-metre deep quarry in Shanghai.

InterContinental Shanghai Wonderland is nestled in the Sheshan Mountain Range, features 337 luxury rooms and suites and sits within the Shenkeng Quarry. The 18-floor hotel features two levels of underwater suites.
It reportedly took approximately 5,000 architects, engineers, designers and construction staff to create the unique structure.

A thirty-kilometre drive from Hongquiao Airport, the newly dubbed ‘ground scraper’ neighbours the Sheshan National Park and Chensan Botanic Gardens.
