Tripadvisor has released its Travellers’ Choice Awards 2024 Best of the Best Restaurants list, ranking the top 25 fine-dining spots around the world, and to our surprise not one Aussie establishment has been featured on it. 

Usual fine-dining suspects like Quay, Attica and Saint Peter, which are not only considered local standouts but are global leaders in the restaurant industry, were not on the list. The list is curated by customer reviews. Restaurants who receive a high volume of above-and-beyond reviews and opinion from the Tripadvisor community over a 12-month period are considered for the list. With more than 8 million listings on the site fewer than 1% of restaurants achieve this milestone. 

So which restaurants were deemed best in the world? The top spot went to France’s Restaurant Pic. Located in Valence, the three Michelin-starred restaurant has Chef Anne Sophie Pic at the helm. Those travelling to experience the restaurant’s take on French cuisine can also stay the night at L’Hotel, which is a continuation of Restaurant Pic. 

Claiming second prize was Restaurante 1621 in Cartagena, Columbia, where the inventive 10-course set menu is the highlight. Rounding out the top three was Northcote Restaurant in Langho, United Kingdom. Stunning views of the garden and rolling hills of Ribble Valley is matched by an array of incredible set menus. Dine on a Sunday to experience a fine-dining take on a classic British roast.
