It’s the news Victorians were hoping for.
From 11:59pm tonight (27 July), Victoria is will begin to ease restrictions, cautiously moving to end the state’s two week lockdown.
The five-kilometre restriction and the five reasons to leave home will end at 11:59pm tonight.
But it doesn’t mean that all restrictions are eased, however.
The new coronavirus restrictions for Victoria
Here’s what you need to know about Victorian restrictions for the next 2 weeks.
Travel
The 5-kilometre restriction will no longer be in place and Victorians will be able travel throughout the state.
Cafes and restaurants
Hospitality businesses will reopen, but they will be subject to strict density limits. Pubs, restaurants, cafes and bars can have a maximum of 100 patrons inside and 300 outside, but they must follow a one person per four square metre limit.

Home visits
While you may be able to physically travel to where friends and family live, you won’t be able to enter their home. For at least the next two weeks, home visits are off the cards.
Instead, you’ll have to schedule catch ups in parks and outdoors as the next best thing.
“We understand that that will be challenging for people who have not seen family and friends for a couple of weeks now … but we know that this is where transmission occurs,” said the Premier, Daniel Andrews.
Schools
Schools will reopen for all year levels from Wednesday. Students and teachers who are required to wear masks (according to their age and lack of health issues), must wear them.
Masks
Masks are still required indoors and outdoors.
Victorian ski fields
If you’re wondering if you can still head to the snow, the Victorian ski fields are scheduled to re-open. But due to the high risk, you’ll need to have a COVID test 72 hours before you visit so you can provide a negative result before you arrive in the region. Children under 12 years are not included.
Working from home
Offices will return to 25 per cent capacity, with the instruction that if you can work from home, you should. Masks must be worn in the office.
Theatres, sports and entertainment
There will be no crowds allowed at large events, sports, theatres or similar gatherings for at least two weeks.
Gyms
Will re-open from 11:59pm tonight.
Funerals and weddings
Funerals and weddings will be limited to 50 people (not including people fundamental to running the ceremonies).
