This is unlike any artwork you've seen before (unless, that is, you caught it in LA, New York or Shanghai).
Jackalope Hotels today has announced it will be bringing a globally significant artwork to Australia, set to open in St Kilda in August – marking its debut in the Southern Hemisphere.
The Rain Room is a 100-square-metre structure where rainfall is continuous. The room is a ‘responsive environment,’ engaging all the senses. Millions and millions of water drops respond to visitors’ presences by ceasing to fall wherever you are – which means you’re fully immersed the artwork yet simultaneously protected from it.

Having wowed viewers in LACMA in Los Angeles (2015/6), the Yuz Museum in Shanghai (2015 and 2018), the Museum of Modern Art, New York (2013), and London’s Barbican (2012), the Rain Room will be in Melbourne for a limited time only.
You can now register to view the Rain Room via jackalopehotels.com/art/rainroom.
