How are we just learning about this?

We’re big fans of travel hacks, and this one is genius. Thanks to a clip posted by Virgin Australia on TikTok, passengers can say goodbye to getting their bag strap or upper thigh caught on the aisle seat armrest as they exit the row they’re seated in.

In the video which has been viewed more than 28,000 times, a cabin crew member reveals a hidden button underneath the armrest of the aisle seat. When that button is pressed you’re able to lift the armrest making it easier to get in and out of the seat with the armrest out of the way.

While the window and middle seat armrest feature visible buttons to unlock the arm rest to raise it, most people have assumed the aisle row armrest was fixed in place.

Passengers seated in the aisle seat are required to keep the armrest down to avoid falling out of their seats and in the aisle in the event of turbulence, but the hack is great to avoid getting your carry on bag strap caught on the armrest while you exit the seat or row (which the cabin crew member depicts in the TikTok video).

Thank you Virgin Australia for sparing our dignity with this hack.
