Will it be a flight to Perth, or a Dyson vacuum? You decide.

Starting today, Virgin’s Velocity Frequent Flyer program is undergoing a massive overhaul. To kickstart the new program, Virgin Australia will launch One Point Rewards, allowing Velocity members to score free flights and luxury household goods for just One Velocity Point.

The updated Reward Seats point structure will now feature three tiers (previously just one) to offer members different price points, rolling out between June 5 and July 5. The tiers are determined by a few factors like distance flown, the price of a usual ticket, cabin class as well as availability on flights at the time of booking.

Essentially what this scheme means is that a one-way flight from Sydney to Melbourne could be redeemed with 6,200 points, a one-way ticket to the Sunshine Coast from Melbourne could be redeemed at 9,400 points. A longer flight from Melbourne to Perth can be redeemed at 14,100 points. Reward Seats also have a few added bonuses that make it cheaper than booking a normal ticket, such as complimentary checked baggage allowance and seat selection.

To celebrate the new structure, the airline is releasing more than one million domestic Reward Seats to members which could spell big savings and that long weekend away just got that much sweeter.

If jet-setting isn’t an option for you now though, don’t fret. As part of the Rewards program, you’ll be able to exchange your points for luxury items for just one point. Ranging from Apple, Dyson, Weber and Endota, the sale will kick off at a pop-up on Melbourne’s Chapel Street on Saturday, June 10 where the first 100 members through the door will be guaranteed a 1 point flight.

The sale will then roll out online on Sunday, June 11, where you could score a pair of Apple Airpods and iPhones, Sheraton bedding, Smeg appliances and swags more on the Velocity Frequent Flyer store.

The 1 Point Rewards will be available online at the Velocity Rewards Store at undisclosed times in limited drops – once a week, across four weeks – from Sunday, June 11 2023 until midnight AEST July, 2 2023.
