Goodbye, savings! Checking into one of these luxury hotels.
For those of us who aren’t checking-in to hotels for a living are usually impressed by fancy pools, swanky hotel restaurants, a plush king-sized bed and a clean room. Who wouldn’t be? Plus, stunning views from the room? An absolute bonus. But what actually separates the good from the great? Well, that’s where the experts come in.
More than 600 industry experts across the globe, including travel journalists, hoteliers and seasoned luxury travellers, confidentially stay at hotels and anonymously cast their votes for the illustrious World’s 50 Best Hotels list annually. While there is no set criteria for voters on what constitutes as ‘best’ there are strict rules. There is a strict 50/50 gender balance among voters, it is strictly confidential and anonymous, voters must never reveal their status, any hotel in the world is eligible, voters must have visited the property during the voting period, and must have spent a minimum of one night there.

So, which are the lucky properties to grace the list in 2024? Capella Bangkok took out the top spot, followed by Lake Como’s Passalacqua and Rosewood Hong Kong coming in third. Two Aussie properties also made the cut. The Instagram-friendly The Calile in Brisbane came in at 25 and The Tasman in Hobart snuck in at 49.
