Experiences: Sundance Film Festival

This calls for your fanciest popcorn recipe.

The world’s biggest film festivals are partnering with YouTube for a virtual global film festival that begins on May 29th.

Among them are the globally renowned Cannes Film Festival, Sundance Film Festival, Venice Film Festival, Tribeca, BFI London Film Festival, Berlin, Marrakech, Mumbai, New York, San Sebastian, IFFAM, Australia’s biggest international film festival, the Sydney Film Festival and many more.

Spearheading the initiative is Tribeca Enterprises, founded by Robert De Niro and Jane Rosenthal, and the company behind the Tribeca Film Festival.

The 10-day event will raise funds for the World Health Organisation Covid-19 Solidarity Response Fund.

Sydney Film Festival Director Nashen Moodley said: “Sydney Film Festival looks forward to presenting Australian cinema in this global arena, and to bring joy and entertainment to audiences in need of relief.”

“In this challenging and uncertain climate, film is more vital than ever – bringing people together, online, to collectively explore the world and our times. Though we can’t be together in a cinema at the moment, we are excited to bring the Festival, and other international film festival selections, to homes around the world.

We Are One: A Global Film Festival will run from May 29 to June 7 on YouTube.com/WeAreOne.

Programming will be available for free, and will include films, shorts, documentaries, music, comedy, and conversations.
