Byron Bay icon and living embodiment of luxury hotel #goals, Raes has revealed the 2020 edition of their annual Artist in Residency program, created in partnership with Champagne house Perrier-Jouët and get ready to swoon, because it’s officially the perfect balance of aesthetics and art.
The ultra-luxe Australian lifestyle fashion collab you won't want to miss
What do you get when you cross a luxury retreat, a French Champagne house and a homegrown resort wear label? Sheer, unadulterated perfection.
Resort wear collaboration
This year’s collaboration – created in partnership with uber-luxe swim and resort label COMMAS – includes an exclusive capsule collection of five incredibly covetable garments that embody the unique energy of the collaboration.
Designs feature original artwork
The collab includes four gender neutral pieces and one pair of classic COMMAS swim trunks, each one adorned in one of the original artworks produced for the 2020 collaboration.
Pieces that reflect the property
The designs feature a unique wave-like stripe, reminiscent of both the movement of the ocean and the iconic curved architecture synonymous with Byron Bay’s most iconic property. The pieces are crafted in a refined palette that reflects the property’s surrounds: sun, surf and sand.
Nurturing the creative process
COMMAS founder and designer Richard Jarman took up residence at Raes while creating the designs, drawing inspiration from the property’s original finishings as well as the Perrier-Jouët Maison Belle Epoque in Epernay, France, which houses Europe’s largest private collection of French Art Nouveau.
An exclusive capsule collection
Among the pieces, a long sleeved and short sleeved shirt, walking short and beach bag crafted from breathable linen and cotton, and a mid-length swim short crafted from luxury Italian hardware and Spanish polyamide. Warning: you will want them all.
Designs inspired by history
“The sun-drenched property has the most fascinating history which draws me in year after year – the pool and gardens rumoured to have been designed by Salvador Dali; the original restaurant, coincidentally named La Belle Epoque; the tiles sourced from a Javanese Palace; every nook of the hotel has a story and that’s where I’ve drawn the inspiration for the collection,” said Jarman.
Available from 1 September
Raes established the Artist in Residency program with Perrier-Jouët in 2019 as a way to support local and international creatives by partnering with likeminded brands. The pieces will be available to purchase from September 1st at raes.com.au and commas.cc.
