Step away from your desktop – and ditch that Zoom meeting – to take back some much-needed time for your skin. The caring folks at Little Company have carefully crafted an at-home facial kit – with day spa inspired Spotify playlist included. The personalised kit includes a step-by-step instruction guide for a facial tailored to your skin’s needs and enough product for four facials. The company takes a holistic approach to skincare (rather than fitting you into the oily, dry or combination box) with five categories for ‘skin types’ – including adaptive skin, stress reactive, hormone reactive, environmental and ageing well.
9 genius ways to make your home feel like a luxury hotel
Already used up your one trip to the supermarket today? No sweat. National travel might be a little way off, but that doesn’t mean you can’t treat yourself to a fake-cation at home. Here’s how to recreate the feeling of five-star hotel luxury at home, writes Georgia Lejeune.
How to recreate the facial experience at home
A video call with your beauty therapist will help them determine your overall health, exposure to sunlight and other environmental factors and emotional stress. It’s the exact treatment you’d get if you stepped into the oasis of the Byron Bay or Melbourne spaces. The at-home facial experience includes all of the tools you’ll need for utter relaxation: incense, headband, personalised tea blend and soothing products. This is the treatment that will prepare you for venturing out into the world fresh faced and revived.
Hotel at home
Aren’t we all a little fed up with sleeping in the same bed, cooking every night and washing mountains of dishes every day (seriously where do they all come from)? With intra-state travel opening up (and interstate travel not far off) an excursion outside of your four walls is imminent. In the meantime, treat every sleep-in, breakfast and load of washing with the same sense of luxury that you might experience at a 5-star hotel.
Recreate turn-down service
Treat yourself to a Jackalope Hotel worthy turn-down service. Surprise your loved one (or even yourself) with a freshly made bed using luxurious Bed Threads linen and a delicious chocolate on their pillow.
Pretty little luxuries
Or do as Jackalope does and leave a little gift from Mecca or Melbourne-based fragrance brand Le Labo with a nightly turn-down service. You can suspend your disbelief for a little longer with hotel-style robes and a Do Not Disturb sign to make sure the kids get the message.
Cocktail hour
Ditch your usual working from home knock off drinks for a bar-worthy cocktail from lead mixologist, Behzad Nvaziri, at The Star Sydney. The sophisticated gin-based Aviation cocktail harks back to the turn of the 20th century – getting its blueish colour from crème de viollete.
Recreate the aviation cocktail at home
Ingredients 2 parts gin (preferably Aviation American dry) ½ part maraschino liqueur ½ part crème de viollete or crème de Yvette ¾ part fresh lemon juice ½ tray of ice cubes Brandied cherry If you don’t have a cocktail shaker use a large jar with a lid to shake up the ingredients (Bond style). Shake the ingredients together with ice and strain into your favourite glass – a small martini glass or coupe will make it taste more authentic. Garnish with a brandied cherry. Bar tender secret: spray lemon peel over the glass at the end to enhance the citrus notes of the drink.
At-home room service
Pop some Perrier-Jouet Blanc de Blancs on ice, comb in a Regenerating Hair Care Mask and convince your significant other/kids/a confused but well-meaning postie to cook up a Grand Hyatt worthy breakfast in bed. Winner of the 2015 and 2016 Gourmet Traveller Hotel Guide’s Best Breakfast the Collins Kitchen at the Grand Hyatt knows how to cook up a morning fry of dreams.
No pesky packing or unpacking required
Support local and regional growers by sourcing your ingredients from farms and providores nearby.
