Fantasy and Indian opulence have landed in Potts Point

The team behind Ezra has welcomed a new addition to the Potts Point neighbourhood. Located right next door to the original Kellett Street venue comes Raja, a love letter to the city of Mumbai.

Co-owners Nick and Kirk Mathews-Bowden are deviating from the Tel Aviv-focused cuisine of Ezra and hopping continents to create this ode to the Indian melting pot.

The menu, created by head chef Ahana Dutt (ex-Firedoor) kicks off with drink-friendly snacks of the sweet and sour ‘khatta meetha’ oysters with chilli, coriander, lime and plum chutney; stracciatella with sunrise lime pickles; and albacore tuna with ‘gunpowder’ spices and lemon jam.

Bigger numbers of spiced beef tartare, malasa clams, and bhara goat riblets, or go all out with the showstopping butter and garlic crab.

The wine list is a balance of Australian young guns and international wines while the cocktail list is designed by Sydney booze legend Michael Chiem of PS40.

As for the space itself, expect a luxurious and eclectic scene by New York-based designer Rosie Rainbow who has drawn inspiration from the over the top settings of Bollywood films and exaggerated Hindi cliches.
