Depending on where you live, finding a good bottle of wine over the Easter long weekend can be a tad tricky, especially on Good Friday and Easter Sunday. So if you’re planning on entertaining on those days, it’s best to stock up beforehand. But if you do need to grab a bottle over the course of the break, here’s our handy guide for when bottle shops will be open over the Easter long weekend.

Are bottle shops open over Easter in NSW?

All bottle shops across NSW will be closed on Good Friday, and takeaway sales are not permitted. However, you can purchase alcohol if dining out, and liquor producers and wholesalers (such as breweries, distilleries and wineries) are still permitted to sell takeaway. 

Normal trading resumes on Easter Saturday, then some bottle shops will be closed on Easter Sunday, before normal trading resumes on Easter Monday. 

Are bottle shops open over Easter in Victoria?

Most major bottle shops are closed on Good Friday, but you will find a few big-name and small, independent bottle shops open. Restaurants and clubs can also sell alcohol, as can liquor producers. 

Normal trading resumes on Easter Saturday and continues throughout the long weekend. 

Are bottle shops open over Easter in the ACT?

There are no restrictions on the sale of alcohol on Good Friday from any bottle shop or venue. Businesses can trade as usual on Easter Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

Are bottle shops open over Easter in Queensland?

All bottle shops across Queensland will be closed on Good Friday, and takeaway sales are not permitted. Venues such as clubs and restaurants can serve alcohol with a meal, and the meal has to be prepared, served and eaten – with cutlery – on the premises. You can buy alcohol to drink with your meal from 1 hour before to 1 hour after eating your meal.

Normal trading resumes on Easter Saturday and continues throughout the long weekend.

South Australia has reformed its liquor legislation, and there are now no restrictions on the sale of alcohol on Good Friday. However, some bottle shops and venues may choose to close. Normal trading continues throughout the long weekend.

All bottle shops are closed on Good Friday, however,  pubs, clubs and restaurants can sell you alcohol if it comes with a full meal, but have reduced opening hours. Businesses can trade as usual on Easter Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
