If you like natural wine, you can't afford to miss this Sydney event

No plans Sunday? This soiree is about to change that.

Fan of a good natty wine? Then you’ll no doubt be familiar with P&V Merchants’ Mike Bennie and his Newtown-based boutique of unusual drops. But all too aware of the importance of a good meal when it comes to a drinking session, Bennie will shortly be collaborating with one of Sydney’s best restaurants with a special Sunday session paired with fine dining and fine wines aplenty.

On Sunday February 24, Bennie will be partnering with natural wine importer Tom Sheer from Lo-Fi Wines, and Momofuku’s kitchen team and drinks man Max Gurtler on a special takeover. On February 24, from 12.00-3.00pm, Bennie will be hosting an intimate soiree alongside the winemakers from the innovative Gut Oggau in Austria. Expect great chats, and an insane menu of eight wines and six matched courses, enjoyed in a group of only 20.

“When we first conceived these Sunday Sessions it was always about pushing boundaries, kitchen, staff, concept and blending service and education into the experience,” says Bennie. “It’s such a thrill to revive this with the landmark Austrian natural wine producers Gut Oggau alongside what might be called ‘a second generation’ of the Momofuku Seiobo team.

“At the core is a willingness to do something different, interesting and flex the muscle of the kitchen and floor team with a one-off celebration of food, drink and hospitality. This is pretty landmark stuff. A unique thing to happen here, each and every time these Sessions are dreamed up. Stay tuned for more, but don’t miss this one.”

Tickets are available for $290 per person and can be purchased online.
