Just in time for World Gin Day.
Millennium pink has pervaded everything from fashion to interiors, and now the rose hue has infiltrated the beverage ranks. 78 Degrees Sunset Gin is the first of its style from Adelaide Hills Distillery’s portfolio; a concoction of native Australian and European ingredients from strawberry gum to bush apple, juniper and rosella. The light gin’s resulting fairy floss shade reminded its award-winning creators of the sunset (hence its name).
Co-founder of Adelaide Hills Distillery Tobias Kline says the distillery’s latest experimentation is the result of increased interest in new gin types. “The last few years we’ve seen a real shift towards quality products so we were excited to embark on this journey of making a craft pink gin and strengthening our spirit offering in this category,” he says. 78 Degrees is also designed to be slightly lighter than traditional dry gins; thanks to the reduced amount of juniper in the drink, it’s said to taste similar to rosé making it ideal for a day tipple.
“This gin also adds another consumption occasion into our portfolio, as 78 Degrees Sunset Gin is perfect for drinking during the day as a more floral and spice option, as well as ideal for sundowner sips,” adds Kline. “It’s a great opportunity to speak to trends towards lighter style drinking options,” agrees brand manager Nikki Daven.
For those who can’t wait to get their hands on the rose drop, 78 Degrees Sunset Gin will be available nationally from July 1 online and in select stores.
