Your summer hit list has arrived.

Raise a glass, the World’s 50 Best Bars for 2021 has been announced with four Australian venues making the cut.

The 2021 edition of the annual ranking features bars from 17 countries, with London’s Connaught Bar nabbing the no.1 spot, taking out the title of World’s Best Bar for the second year in a row.

And in local news, Sydney’s very own regenerative bar Re has taken out the number 46 spot in its first 8 months of trading. It was also named Sustainable Bar of the Year.

The award-winning bar is owned by former European Bartender of the Year Matt Whiley (Scout) and Maurice Terzini (Icebergs Dining Room & Bar). Everything on the menu is made in-house from surplus produce salvaged from local markets and other restaurants and bars. It champions a closed-loop production system.

There were plenty of other local success stories too. Maybe Sammy in Sydney ranked the highest in the country at position number 22 while taking out the title of Best Bar in Australiasia. It was closely followed by mezcal drinking den Cantina OK in Sydney, which ranked at number 23. Melbourne watering holes Above Board and Byrdi came in at numbers 44 and 56 respectively.

While you could give them a round of applause, even better, why not pop down for a celebratory drink.

Bulletin Place, which ranked number 39 in last year’s list, and The Everleigh which was at number 78, were absent from the top 100.

The top five bars in the world were revealed to be London’s Connaught Bar followed by Tayēr + Elementary in London, Paradiso in Barcelona, The Clumsies in Athens and Floreria Atlantico in Buenos Aires. You can find the full list below.
