The diet drink will shortly be no more, with plans for a new replacement in tow.
Whether or not you drink Coke Zero, you’ll be aware of the undeniable difference in taste between the original and its sugar-free cousin. That is until now, with the launch of the new Coca-Cola No Sugar.
The new creation is the result of five years of research into creating a sugar-free drink option that tastes as close to the original drink as possible.
“We wanted the experience of drinking Coca-Cola No Sugar to be as close as possible to ‘The Real Thing’,” says President of Coca-Cola in Australia Roberto Mercadé. “That’s no small task when you consider the original has been cherished by consumers for more than a century. Faced with this challenge, our team of taste experts spent five years mixing different flavours and conducting 18 separate consumer trials before finally cracking it.”
This is the latest incarnation of a diet version of the soft drink, with a sugar-free option for the drink first launching with Diet Coke in 1982. “People are looking for a better balance in their diet and lifestyle, which is why we are changing the way we do things here at Coca-Cola,” continues Robert. “Coca-Cola No Sugar will be a great new choice for those who love the taste of Coke but are watching their sugar intake. This is about The Coca-Cola Company making the leap from simply offering people more choice to actively encouraging people to consider a ‘no sugar’ option.”
Coca-Cola No Sugar will be available from June 16 and Australia will be one of the first nation’s to be able to try it. In celebration, Coca-Cola will be giving away more than two million free samples of the new beverage – the company’s biggest giveaway so far.
