A Milanese takeover is planned for the East Coast this July and August.

An Italian summer may not be on the cards for everyone this Australian winter, but that doesn’t mean that an Italian life is that far out of reach. Campari is saving the day, bringing a little slice of the Mediterranean to the East Coast of Australia this July and August.

The Campari Red Nights 2017 initiative is launching across Sydney and Melbourne. The event will see the a series of pop-ups take over the Melbourne CBD and Sydney’s Streets of Barangaroo in an ode to Milan. “In celebration of the Campari Tonic, Sydney and Melbourne will see a series of luxe ‘Red Lounges’ containing red velvet armchairs, brushed-gold bar carts, red neon lights and iconic Campari artworks reminiscent of your favourite drinking installation in the centre of Milan,” explains Campari in a statement.

The Campari Tonic become the drink of choice across the designated precincts. There will also be a special team of Campari bartenders and mixologists doing the rounds, and a Milanese-inspired Campari art installation taking hold of Barangaroo Avenue on Thursday and Friday evenings.

“In Sydney we will see Bel & Brio as the flagship venue reflecting Milanese style and sophistication, while in Melbourne we will see institutions 1806 and the QT Rooftop transform into beautiful Campari lounges,” continues the spirit’s team. Among the other stand-out offerings for the celebration, there will be limited-edition Campari gelato served up by Spring Street Grocer in Melbourne CBD, and a special Campari Tart doled out at pastry gurus Bourke Street Bakery in Sydney.

The complete event schedule can be found on the Campari Facebook page.
