Icebergs’ Maurice Terzini and fashion god Justin O’Shea are launching a gin

Goldy Gin

And legendary barman Tony Conigliaro is behind it.

Having already conquered the worlds of food and fashion, Maurice Terzini and Justin O’Shea have set their sights on a new challenge – the world of spirits. The restaurateur and fashion designer are shortly set to prove their worth when it comes to booze with the launch of a new venture – Goldy Gin.

The stylish duo will be joining forces with Tony Conigliaro (founder of Drink Factory and cocktail bars 69 Colebrooke Row, Bar Termini and Untitled) for the new juniper juice. It’s a self-described update on the classic London Dry – a ‘no fuss’ gin that combines juniper and citrus with ‘a touch of awesomeness’ for a smooth tipple that (at 44 percent alcohol) is intended for a simple G&T, or a classic cocktail.

“I met Maurice (Terzini) a few years back when I had my first Icebergs experience,” explains Justin of how the duo came to be. “We soon became friends and, as expected, we had similar interests and shared the same views on life and business.”

That interest evidently includes a quality tipple. The resulting Goldy Gin is a drink that both believe focuses on the key components of authenticity, value, taste and fun. It’s a project that has already blossomed into something larger than was originally intended.

“When Goldy began I went to Maurice and told him about it,” says Justin. “He was immediately down with the project. However, it wasnʼt until we did the tasting that we decided to work on a bigger partnership for Australia.

“Thatʼs what makes this partnership special. Itʼs based not only on friendship but quality. For me, having Maurice and his team behind Goldy is the perfect fit. They stand for everything that Goldy represents and this matters most. And weʼre both bogans. Ha ha!”

Goldy Gin will be stocked in venues that Justin personally likes to frequent. Hemingway Bar at The Ritz Paris and Chiltern Firehouse in London are but two of a few that have already been confirmed. As for Australia? There’s a certain Bondi Beach institution that has Goldy Gin’s name written all over it…
