Fancy a cuppa? This Japanese green tea gin is your perfect afternoon pick-me-up

Kin No Tea gin.

Put down the sencha, here's a new brew for you to try.

Japanese craft gin distillery, Kyoto Distillery, has teamed up with green tea grower and brewer Hori-Shichimeien to release a calming green tea gin, perfect for that mid-afternoon tea break.

Called Ki No Tea Gin, the new brew combines yuzu, juniper and pristine Fushimi water with premium tencha and gyokuro green tea leaves.

Tea fiends can expect delicate lemon and orange notes, followed by hints of white chocolate, fresh-cut grass, and juniper, finishing with warming green tea flavours.  The website describes the aromas as “walking into a silent Japanese tea house.”

Since launching in 2017, Ki No Tea gin has gone on to win several international awards, including Best Contemporary Gin in Japan at the World Gin Awards in 2018.

Ki No Tea gin can be purchased for $135 for a 700ml bottle from nicks.com.au.
