Pack your bags, Lark has opened Australia's first 'whisky village' in Tasmania

Lark Distillery

Whisky drinkers will not want to miss this.

If a tour of the famous Lark Distillery features heavily on your Tassie itinerary, you can now choose from two iconic locations.

Alongside the original distillery in Hobart which has its own whisky bar and tasting room, you can now also drop by Lark’s new ‘whisky village’ in Pontville, just thirty minutes north.

The impressive estate is home to a 130,000L distillery, as well as a cellar door, working cooperage and historic homestead with stables and stores, all dating back to the early 1800s.

Visitors can sign up for an immersive tour of the distillery, or explore the scenic 40-acre property on their own.

You can sip your way around the range in the cellar door, or join a masterclass where you can even blend your own. Under the guidance of a Lark whisky specialist, visitors can raid some of the finest casks in the bond stores to create their very own bottle of Tasmanian Malt whisky.

Dan Knight, Head of Hospitality at Lark Distilling Co. says, “This year has been huge in celebrating 30 years of not only Lark but in supporting the whole Tasmanian whisky industry which provides some of the best whisky in the world. We’re very proud of the role Lark has played in shaping this industry, and excited that Pontville will represent a new experience unlike any other in the Apple Isle. Whether you’re a seasoned expert or newly curious, this incredible space will be the perfect jumping-off point for your exploration into local whisky.”
