Time to break up with espresso martinis. We've found a new lover.
The Pornstar Martini is shaking up the cocktail scene with a cheeky twist that’s hard to ignore. The sexy blend of vanilla vodka, passionfruit liqueur, and a splash of Prosecco, has gone from flirty favourite to a full-on trend – especially in Australia, where it’s been popping up on tap in bars across the country. Last year, the Pornstar Martini ranked in the top ten most searched for recipes on Google, and was the only cocktail to appear on the list.
Invented in London by bartender Douglas Ankrah in 2002, the Pornstar Martini was meant to be a playful nod to indulgence. It’s named with a wink and a nod, and it delivers a punchy, sweet mix that’s both easy to down and Instagram-worthy. But the real kicker? It comes with a side of Prosecco, because who doesn’t want to add a bit of bubbly to their day?
The drink of the Euro-summer, the Pornstar Martini has taken over cities like London, Paris, and Berlin where it’s been embraced its playful charm, and the cheap thrill of shouting the words “porn star” to your bartender. Is it classy? No, not really. Will we have another round? Yes, please!
As fun and easy as the drink is, it’s worth investing in a little education before you go running to your nearest bar. The Pornstar Martini is served in a coupe glass, with a shot glass of prosecco on the side. After a couple of schooners it can be a little confusing to be handed two drinks for the price of one but don’t panic. There’s a right and a wrong way to get down with the Pornstar.

You may be tempted to mix the Prosecco into the cocktail like an aspiring mixologist. You may even think you should go one for one sipping on each. Show your real prowess with your new squeeze – the Prosecco is the afterglow and shouldn’t be touched until the cocktail is gone.
Don your flirtiest ‘fit, head to your nearest rooftop, and snag the whole package with the new drink of summer.
