Experience the magic of Marlborough with Cloudy Bay Wines.

There’s a lot to like about New Zealand’s South Island, especially in summer. The lakes are blue, the vineyards are green, the clouds are white, and the sun is streaming down over spectacular vistas. If you want to connect with nature and take some deep lungfuls for fresh air, this is the place you need to be.

When David Hohnen founded Cloudy Bay Wines in 1985, he was struck by the view. It’s certainly the first thing everyone comments about after arriving at the cellar door in Marlborough. The winery’s legacy began with a bright Sauvignon Blanc, which is credited with putting the country on the world wine map.

The label is currently offering a range of experiences that allow you to immerse yourself in this stunning region, creating the ultimate itinerary for adventurous foodies. Anyone who appreciates a quality drop knows that you need to understand the land and the people behind the scenes to fully understand the wine. It’s one of the best parts of wine tasting, because it means every glass is intimately linked with the outlook. This is a place where you can enjoy the wonder of the natural world, enjoying awe-inspiring beauty in luxury.

Of course, wine tasting and a cheese board at the cellar door are a given, but what better way is there to appreciate the symbiotic relationship than from above? You can explore the vineyards by helicopter, hosted by a member of the viticulture team, to soak in the majestic views and learn how the earth influences the taste and texture of each vintage. From Marlborough, you can float over the Wairau Valley, Southern Valleys, and Awatere Valley, enjoying picturesque views that extend all the way to the magnificent Pacific Ocean. Or if you’d rather keep your feet on terra firma, you can enjoy a Land Rover tour into all the prime parcels.

You can also try your hand at foraging – although it doesn’t mean you have to get your hands dirty. Instead, you’ll be given four compass points with four local producers to visit, where you can collect ingredients for your own dinner which will be prepared by an on-site chef. This experience is guided by the concept that provenance brings a unique element to everything that we taste, so it’s an excellent way to explore the region and enhance your understanding of the local food and wine culture while firing up your taste buds.

That said, perhaps the most exciting adventure on offer is the opportunity to sail in the Marlborough Sounds on a 54-foot yacht. If you’re an avid sailor (or simply curious to try your hand), you are welcome to take part in the process. However, if you prefer to simply sample a flute of the winery’s sparkling Pelorus label while your worries float away, you can do that too. Lunch is served on board and transfers are included.

It’s quite natural that sailing leads to a craving for seafood, so you’ll need to book a lunch at Jack’s Raw Bar. The menu features the finest Te Matuku Oysters, produced in the bay of the same name on Waiheke Island. They’re best enjoyed naturally, with soy and lime sauce dressing and a glass of 2021 Sauvignon Blanc.

It’s the ultimate itinerary filled with natural wonders, and you’re sure to leave filled with inspiration. To find out more and book your New Zealand itinerary you can visit https://www.cloudybay.co.nz/visit-us
