Wine + Champagne

The party of the century is being hosted in South Australia tonight

Hugh Hamilton Vineyard

All in the name of the district's oldest vineyard.

Adelaide winery Hugh Hamilton is one of McLaren Vale’s most famed. And now the wine spot may also be able to claim the title of most fun, thanks to the party it is hosting this evening.

Hitting a milestone birthday – its 180th to be exact – the vineyard is planning a celebration to end all celebrations. Hosted by Hugh Hamilton himself – the self-proclaimed black sheep of the family – and his daughter Mary, the 180th Anniversary Bloodline black tie dinner will transport guests to an exquisite dining experience held on the Adelaide Fashion Festival runway.

The vineyard itself was first planted in 1837 by Hugh Hamilton’s great, great grandfather, with its grapes producing the first wine for the McLaren Vale district – no small feat. As if this wasn’t celebration enough, the vineyard remains family-owned, and is now onto its sixth generation of winemakers.

Now onto its sixth generation of family winemakers, the vineyard plans to mark the occasion in great style. All of Adelaide’s glitz and glamour is expected to come together in a food (and wine) fuelled celebration that partners drops from the Hugh Hamilton vineyard with a specially curated five-course degustation dinner courtesy of chef Simon Bryant.
