Including over 100 bakers.
The recruitment drive continues, with supermarkets across the country seeking extra hands to help restock shelves and drop-off online deliveries.
Today, Coles announced that it is recruiting for another 5,000 roles, on top of the 7,000 that it filled last week, bringing the grand total to 12,000 new hires.
Meanwhile, Woolworths revealed yesterday that it is looking to hire an additional 20,000 staff members nationwide, with the grocery giant specifically looking to employ people who have recently lost their job due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Brad Banducci, Woolworths CEO said: “We will have more hours for existing team members and additional roles to fill as we focus on meeting the needs of our customers and communities.”
Many of the new positions will be part-time and short-term, with roles spread out across the company, from restocking shelves at supermarkets and bottle stores, to cashier duties and delivery driving. Coles is also specifically looking for 100+ bakers.
Successful applicants at Coles will be given fast-tracked inductions so they can start straight away.
“We’ve just been so busy and the demand is enormous in stores,” a Coles spokesperson told news.com.au. “The intention is to get these guys in the doors as quickly as possible.”
