Shoppers can expect thousands more delivery windows to become available.
Supermarket giant Woolworths has teamed up with Uber to increase its online delivery capacity.
Woolworths is currently using its in-house delivery team in addition to courier services Sherpa and Drive Yello and rideshare company Uber to ensure it can keep up with demand.
The new service will initially be offered through three Woolworths stores in Townsville, before expanding to additional cities across the country in the following weeks.
Woolworths director of e-commerce, Annette Karantoni said: “The demand for our home delivery service has grown at an unprecedented rate across Australia in recent months.”
“As the COVID-19 situation continues to evolve, it’s vital we keep scaling our delivery capacity to meet the essential needs of our communities.
“We see partnerships as an integral part of this effort, and are delighted to team up with Uber to bring the convenience of grocery delivery to even more Australians.”
Woolworths resumed its online delivery and pick-up service last week, with thousands of home delivery windows now available.
Delivery is contactless with orders capped at 40 items. To make an order, head to woolworths.com.au.
