The popular Strathfield soup spot now has a second location in the city.
Sydney foodies are in for a treat as the highly acclaimed Korean restaurant, Hansang gets set to open its doors in the heart of Haymarket. With its original location in Strathfield drawing long queues of eager diners, the new branch is expected to bring the same hype to Chinatown.
Located on Goulburn Street, right across from the former home of BBQ King, Hansang is all about authentic Korean flavours and one special dish that draws the crowds – the slow-cooked bone broth, simmered for an astonishing 72 hours.

The secret to their bone broth lies in the meticulous attention to detail and the lengthy cooking process. Simmered over a low flame for three whole days, the rich beef broth bubbles away in giant cauldrons to produce a milky and complex elixir.
Another massive drawcard at the Strathfield OG – and soon in the CBD – is the banchan. Hansang famously serves up at least 10 of the complimentary starters ranging from house-made kimchi, to marinated seaweed, chestnut jelly, egg rolls, fried ham, pickled radish, sweet fish cakes and a Korean-style pasta salad.

Haymarket and Chinatown have taken some real hits in the last few years with the closure of industry heavyweights Golden Century, Marigold, and the aforementioned BBQ King but things certainly seem to be on the up, with new talent breathing new life into the precinct and our appetites are well and truly worked up.
Hansang will open at 39-41 Goulburn Street, Haymarket in July, 2023. For more details, head to: hansangsydney.com.au.
