Get your fried chicken and kimchi fix at this new Korean deli in Surry Hills

Soul Deli

Soul food, to go.

There’s a real cool-cat energy at SOUL Deli in Surry Hills. The new cafe is a casual expansion of Daero Lee and Illa Kim’s SOUL Dining down the road.

From the minimalist interior to the clothes range by designer Stella Sin, Sydney’s first Korean brunch spot will take you straight to the street of Seoul.

Their selection of canned Korean drinks include the infamous Haitai Bon Bon pear juice, thought to relieve hangovers and acting as the perfect accompaniment to their Korean Fried Chicken roll (also good for hangovers).

And KFC isn’t the only comfort food they’ve got going on, there’s also a sweet corn kimchi pizza, a culinary mash-up of a corn fritter and kimchi pancake.

You can take their range home, including a chilli sauce titled “fire” for those who dare feat the heat. There is a kimchi flavour for everyone including two vegan varieties.

Where SOUL Deli shines is their range of pickles – crisp daikon, cucumbers, peppers and onion – and their soft, airy house-made tofu.

SOUL Dining has you covered for breakfast through to a late lunch. For a hearty dish, opt for their colourful galbi rice bowl topped with beef, veggies and a soy egg.

Brunch connoisseurs will be drawn to the contemporary K-Aussie Big Brekkie to reinvigorate after a dusty night out, while those looking for decadence will be swayed by SOUL’s omelette with cod roe ‘caviar’ with beurre blanc.
