Wave hello to your new fave.
Eagle-eyed customers have spotted a new ‘secret’ item on the McDonald’s menu but not everyone can get their hands on it. Yet. Introducing: the wavy fries.
Not quite wedges, not quite waffle fries, the hybrid wavy fries have already become a hit overseas and now some Aussies can get them too.
The new item is being trialled in select stores across NSW, and while a spokesperson has confirmed to news.com.au that the wavy fries have quietly landed on the menu at select stores, a full list of participating restaurants remains a mystery.
“McDonald’s Australia is currently trialling Wavy Fries in select restaurants across New South Wales,” the Macca’s spokesperson said.

@dessertaddictsanonymous I finally tried the new wavy fries from @McDonald’s Australia and they tasted liked thinner potato wedges. The wavy fries had a seasoning on the fries, which was nice. Overall I thought the Wavy Fries taste nice, but I was not McLovin’ it. #wavyfries #review #maccas #mcdonalds #new #viraltiktok #fries #hotchips #penrith #fryday ♬ Ba da ba ba ba (Macca’s X DJ Paris Lawrence) – DJ Paris Lawrence
“We look forward to hearing our customers’ feedback and sharing more details in the future.”
Sneaky.
Social media users have claimed to have found the wavy fries at Penrith’s Peachtree, St Ives, Northmead and Mount Colah, so far, with one TikTok creator saying, “I was so excited to see it on the menu board. I ordered the large Wavy Fries but to my disappointment it was only half full.”
