Duo behind Woodcut steakhouse to open two Melbourne venues

It will be the hospo-heavyweights first foray into the Melbourne food scene.

Award-winning hospitality power couple Sunny and Ross Lusted have announced the imminent opening of two new venues on Melbourne’s Russell Street.

The duo have chosen prime sites on Russell Street in Melbourne’s CBD, neighbouring the highly anticipated boutique hotel, Melbourne Place. The yet-to-be-named venues will be a ground level restaurant and a basement bar, both focusing on the cuisine and energy of Iberian coastal dining.

Ross and Sunny Lusted have a long and career working internationally for Aman Resorts, opening 15 hotels and working across 25 other properties. Most recently, the pair have been based in Sydney, owning and operating The Bridge Room before opening their elevated steakhouse Woodcut, at Crown Sydney.

“Melbourne is one of the world’s most vibrant food cities, with incredible markets and a diverse and evolving dining scene,” shares Sunny Lusted. “Having lived and worked in Melbourne at various points over the past decades, it feels incredibly special to return with our own venues and to be joining Melbourne’s hospitality community.”

Sunny and Ross Lusted’s new restaurant and basement bar are set to open late 2024 on Russell Street, Melbourne. More to come.
