Is this going to be The Newport 2.0?
Merivale continues to expand its empire north with news of its latest acquisition. The hospitality group has just added to booming portfolio The Collaroy. The iconic beachside pub is the north shore’s latest institution to be bought by Merivale, who already own hotspot The Newport, as well as Papi Chulo in the district.
It’s all apart of CEO Justin Hemmes’ plan to focus on expansion in the northern beaches. “I love the Northern Beaches; it is a magnificent area and we are incredibly proud to be part of it,” he says.
“The Collaroy is in a truly spectacular location, with sweeping views of the ocean and sand literally at its door step. This is a really exciting addition to the group, and one that will beautifully complement what we’re creating at The Newport,” he continues.
Considering the continued expansion of The Newport’s multitude of eating areas, we have no doubt that The Collaroy will follow in its footsteps with a range of different dining options in the one spot. But we’ll have to wait and see just what the project has in store, with Merivale confirming they won’t have the keys to the property until September, with plans to be announced in due course.
