Your new place to veg out.
It’s true, vegans eat a lot of salad, but that doesn’t mean they don’t like to hunker down with a big, fat, filthy burger every now and again. One place they can do just that is Henry’s Burgers, a new plant-based fast food joint that has just landed in Fitzroy, Melbourne.
The new diner with a difference serves a 100 percent vegan menu, completely free of meat and dairy. So, what does that leave? Lots. Meat is moved on for a housemade faux beef patty, stacked with lettuce, pickles and American-style melty vheddar. There’s also The Schnitzroy, a crispy fried ‘pretenderloin’ burger and The Lentilist, which comes loaded with a lentil and sweet potato patty drizzled in a creamy ranch dressing. Make it a meal with onion rings or beer-battered fries in gravy.

As for drinks, Henry’s Burgers serve up chocolate shakes as well as vegan booze, from beers on tap to wines and housemade cocktails (take that Maccas). It wouldn’t be proper fast food without a soft serve, and at Henry’s, the plant-based vanilla bean sundaes come doused in caramel sauce and cookie crumbs.
Not only is the venue completely vegan, but it’s also planet-friendly. All ingredients on the menu are sustainably sourced, while the packaging and cutlery are completely made from plants.
The only thing missing is the side of shame afterwards.
