Healthy eating rarely tastes so good.
Healthy cocktails and burgers – could there be such a thing? Broadbeach Waters will get a taste of the oxymoron when industrial-luxe eatery/bar NXT Door opens this Thursday.
The venture comes from the owners of cafe Grocer & Grind, which, as the name suggests, is next door. The new venue promises whole food dining with a focus on locally sourced, sustainable ingredients.
“Our chefs have created a health-conscious menu which we’re very proud of,” says manager Max Gorvel. “NXT Door will boast flavours such as activated charcoal, which is a key ingredient in a few standout dishes.”
Diners watching their waistlines and intent on keeping their bikini bods over summer can also expect creative and nutritional dishes, such as coconut bread with coconut turmeric, olive, smoked paprika and matcha dukkah, or the vegan vengeance burger featuring a sweet potato and quinoa patty.
Other dishes on the menu include a prawn ceviche with raspberry vinegar and polenta crisp, as well as espresso scotch fillet with black wild rice and a sticky, organic coffee sauce.
Gorvel is also promising patrons a bit of “magic” with their meals, inviting customers to “play with their food”.
“Guests will be able to interact with their food according to their taste – and that’s all I’ll say for now, but it’s very exciting,” he says.
Perhaps even more exciting, though, is the line-up of cold-pressed cocktails.
Patrons will be able to ditch some of the guilt of celebrating the festive season with the bar serving up concoctions such as Grace’s Garden, starring tequila, Cointreau, violette liquor, organic raw cacao, cold-pressed beetroot juice, cold-pressed lemon juice and eggwhite. Juicing rarely tasted so good.
