It’s been a long time coming, but George Calombaris’ casual souvlaki shop is just about to open its doors in Sydney. Jimmy Grants souvlaki bar will be landing in Sydney Central Plaza on October 18, with a Newtown store confirmed for the weeks following. It’s a twist on takeaway that the Masterchef judge hopes to offer the masses, inspired by his Greek background. Australia’s immigrant culture has inspired the dishes available at the casual takeaway, including its signature souva that continas slow includes slow-roasted lamb, mustard aioli, chips, onions and parsley. It’s a dish that has already made its mark on the Melbourne, with the dish topping the list of the most ordered UberEATS dish across the world. CEO of George’s MAdE Establishment Troy McDonagh believes Sydney’s Jimmy Grants will be a welcome addition to Sydney’s dining scene. “Jimmy Grants will bring an urban vibe wherever it goes. Stores will feature graffiti murals and vintage photographs alongside repurposed and industrial materials. The murals and photos will bring to life the stories of the immigrant spirit and journey,” he says.
